jpegBarbara Hass is a Supervising Paralegal with the law firm of Chain | Cohn | Stiles in Bakersfield, California. She began her legal career in 1980 working for civil defense attorneys.  Since 1995, she has worked for David Cohn, Managing Senior Partner of Chain | Cohn | Stiles.  Barbara is Mr. Cohn’s senior paralegal and supervisor of his multi-million dollar personal injury practice.

Barbara is the creator and author of The California Litigator and Paralegal Junction, websites designed to provide encouragement, education, tips, and a meaningful assortment of legal articles.

Barbara is the owner and creator of Deadline Direct, a downloadable deadline calculating application.  Deadline Direct calculates deadlines with a notes field for specific tasks, and syncs the information to Microsoft Outlook as a task, calendar event, or e-mail.

Barbara is an Advanced Certified Paralegal in Discovery, PI-Wrongful Death, and Trial Practices; and a California Advanced Specialist in Civil Litigation through the National Association of Legal Assistants.  She has been recognized by her peers as a 2012 Paralegal Gateway Superstar, and the recipient of the 2011 and 2003 Kern County Paralegal of the Year.

Always interested in advancing the paralegal profession and providing educational materials, Barbara has been an adjunct instructor at California State University, Bakersfield teaching personal injury law for the Attorney Assistant Extended Studies Program.  She has lectured on different topics on civil litigation and legal ethics.
